The main strategy of Padakhep in implementing its activities is to assist beneficiaries as the development partners or facilitators. Some working strategies of Padakhep are mentioned below:
Padakhep strongly believes that sustainability of the organization depends on the beneficiary target groups. It implements most of its programs/projects by organizing beneficiaries in groups. Groups decide the kinds of approach and assistance they need. Padakhep assists them in identifying their needs. In the light of the identified needs, the organization provides the group members with technical and financial supports.
Padakhep follows a bottom-up and participatory development approach as its working strategy. With this end in view, Padakhep first starts mobilizing and organizing beneficiaries through awareness building from bottom level.
Though the women are organized as the primary beneficiaries, all members of beneficiary family have to participate in development activities. In the decision making process of the development issues of a family, Padakhep ensures the participation of all adult members of the family so that they can implement an activity collectively.
Padakhep follows cluster/community approach in implementing its various activities. According to the approach, working areas are divided into clusters (Padakhep Palli).Cluster-based community is mobilized through development approach. All products and services are provided to the targeted people in the community. The participation of the community people is ensured by involving the local governments concerned.
Holistic Development Approach (HDA)
Padakhep strategically follows a multi-dimensional and participatory development approach named Holistic Development Approach (HDA) which is more supportive to fulfilling the basic needs of the poor. Padakhep’s program interventions are developed or designed in line with Poverty Reduction Strategy Plan (PRSP) and Millennium Development Goals (MDG) for addressing the priority issues like education, human resource development, microfinance, agriculture & environment, health & sanitation, child development, etc of the beneficiaries. Unlike many other NGOs in the country which are confined to Minimalist approach (only Microcredit), Padakhep is promoting or pursuing a Maximalist approach (Microcredit plus HDA approach) to break the vicious cycle of poverty. Padakhep strongly believes that HDA is the most appropriate strategy for sustainable development of the poor and the community as a whole.
